1839–1919

This fifty-year-long war began in 1839 when the British attempted to remove an Afghan emir, fearing the Russian influence over him. The bloody war that broke out waged throughout the nineteenth century and saw Great Britain facing similar difficulties to what the Russians and Americans have faced in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
